HUMMUS.

I am so terribly sorry for the lack of posting in the last 11 days. I've just been extremely busy and every night when I think I'll finally be able to write, something else comes up, like one of my teachers will say "oh, let's do a test tomorrow!" or "the project for next week will actually be due tomorrow morning!"
THIS IS A MESSAGE TO ALL YOU TEACHERS OUT THERE: WE, STUDENTS, ALSO HAVE A LIFE. We don't just sit around doing nothing when we have free time! Some of us have very important things to do, like, uh...watching TV! (Come to think of it, I barely watch TV. Is that normal teenage behaviour?)
Okay. So I've exaggerated. I do have A LOT of homework but my teachers aren't that crazy. I've just been really, really busy.
And I'm going to apologize for the second time in this post, because I have terrible news.(For you. Not for me.)
I know you'll probably be devastated but try not to cry, okay?
I'm going off to the Canary Islands. So you won't hear from me for another 12 days or so.
There you go. Sorry.
Isn't it awesome? I feel so lucky! I feel like such a brat when people ask me "why are you missing three days of school?" and I answer " 'cause I'm going to the Canary Islands". Ah, fudge it. I think I deserve taking pride in going on an extended vacation.
Anyway, what I've been wanting to post for the last 11 days is about my new worshiping of hummus. Once you've made your own, you'll never buy it at the store again. Trust me. It is definitely one of my favorite spring foods. Even the pictures make my mouth water! And it's simple to make.

If the measurements are not exact it'll still turn out okay, but you do need a vague idea:
-450g of chickpeas
-1/2 cup of tahini (sesame paste)
-2 or 3 cloves of garlic (or more if you love it!)
-1/4 cup of lemon juice
-1 tsp sea salt
a little bit of water until you reach your preferred consistency.

Blend all those ingredients up in a food processor and ta-da! Ready to eat!

I made hummus/carrot sandwiches and hummus/roasted-aubergine sandwiches. If you make them with whole wheat bread those sandwiches are pure goodness for your body! Not to mention how YUMMY they are!

I'm too upset to call this anything.

If you are not in the mood for reading about something utterly disgusting and wrong then I apologize.
Have you heard "High School" by Nicki Minaj featuring Lil Wayne? If you haven't and you're under 18 and you are typing it into YouTube right now let me warn you that you won't actually be allowed to watch the video. Yes. It's that bad.
I was just on YouTube the other day listening to "Bust your windows" by Jazmine Sullivan and an ad for "High School" song popped up. I clicked on it, because even though I've come to hate Nicki Minaj and most of her awful "music", I did like "Super Bass" at first. So I was curious. I listened to the song without the video... I should have known not to.
I'm sorry, but what the hell is wrong with this woman?! Who in their right mind would participate in a song like that? And who listens to this?! Why would a song like that even exist?!
She must be crazy.
I am so embarrassed right now. Is this what adults think of my generation? That we're superficial porno pigs that have no taste in music at all?
Maybe, in like 2050 or something, this is the only type of music that will be produced anymore...
Ugh.
Do you share my disgust?

Easter Brunch

How was your Easter? Mine was awesome. You'll never guess what my family and I did.
We... we...

Oh. It's in the title.

So we had an Easter brunch. Lots of chocolate eggs involved. ;)
We made scones for the first time, and oh my, were they good. How did they disappear so fast?

Scones

We added chocolate chips to one batch, and they were super-yummy, but I think I like them plain better. We got the recipe from Joy of Baking.

We also made this lemon-blueberry yogurt cake, but without the lemon, and not just blueberries but also raspberries and blackberries. We got this recipe from smitten kitchen. And I'm proud, because our cake looked almost just like the cake in the picture from smitten kitchen.

Berry Yogurt Cake

It was delightfully moist and light. It could have used a little more sugar, according to my dad, but that's one of the things I liked about this cake: not being too sweet. It goes perfectly with a sunny day and a nice mug of tea.
What did you do for Easter?

Fresh strawberries

On another note, I'd like to share a recent discovery with you. The other day, as I was looking for a definition of malted milk, I typed it into google and clicked on malted-milk.com. Instead of getting my definition, this music started playing out of nowhere! Well, out of the speakers actually. Malted milk is a band! I feel like it was destiny or something, because they're a really good band. They're french guys from Nantes and they know how to groove. Check them out!
